Medication Consultation

Please be aware that Dr. Justin Lapollo’s medication management provided by Maryville Psychiatry is an out-of-network treatment as we do not do any insurance billing for these services. If you would like to bill your own insurance for reimbursement we can provide you with a superbill (which outlines the service codes, diagnosis, setting, and amount paid). Payment is required at the time of service and a credit or debit card is required to remain on file to bill for no-show appointments not canceled prior to the scheduled appointment time.

Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS)

TMS therapy is a non-invasive, drug-free outpatient treatment that has been shown to effectively improve symptoms of depression in 83% of patients and induce remission in 62% of patients. The therapy involves using electromagnetic pulses to stimulate (or inhibit) areas of the brain that may be over or underactive. The therapy is well tolerated and has no significant side effects. During the procedure (which lasts anywhere from 3 – 19 minutes) the patient is awake and reclined comfortably in a spa chair while the electromagnet is placed in the specified treatment location. While cycling the patient will feel a tapping sensation which is mild and usually well tolerated. After the treatment, there are no limitations on driving or working. Traditional treatment involves usually 36 treatments spread out over 6 weeks (3 – 19 minutes per day). Condensed treatments are now an option as well which consist of several high-potency sessions a day over a five-day period.

NeuroStar Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS)
Services

NeuroStar was the first FDA-approved TMS device for the treatment of depression. They have pioneered patient treatment over the past decade and are now approved for the treatment of anxiety symptoms in adults with Major Depressive Disorder as well as an adjunct treatment for adults diagnosed with Obsessive Compulsive Disorder. Maryville Psychiatry is proud to offer world-class treatment with our NeuroStar TMS machine.

Condensed TMS Treatment
Services

The SAINT (stands for Stanford Accelerated Intelligent Neuromodulation Therapy) protocol is a newly developed condensed TMS treatment that has been cleared by the FDA for treatment-resistant depression. It consists of 1800 pulses of theta burst TMS every hour, 10 sessions a day, for five straight days. We also offer an abbreviated “mini SAINT” treatment which consists of 5 sessions a day over the same time period. Dr. Lapollo can help in deciding which treatment is best for you. Learn more about the SAINT Protocol here

Ketamine is known to help with depression over time. The medical dose is 2 times a week for 6 weeks then we move the prescription to once a month. We do not accept insurance and the cost for one treatment is $150.
